Todd Naber: Melfort’s Northern Lights

Todd Naber owns and operates Naber Specialty Grains, a wholesale grain dealer in Melfort, Saskatchewan. At Naber Specialty Grains, Todd Naber purchases lentils, peas, canary seed, canola, flax seed and oat products, and processes them at the company’s world-class processing facility in Melfort.

As Todd Naber is proud to say, Melfort is located in some of the richest and most productive farmland in the world. Saskatchewan is situated in the central prairie region of Canada, between Alberta to the west and Manitoba to the east. Its capital city is Regina, which is often referred to as “The Queen City.” The word “Saskatchewan” comes from a Cree word that means “swift flowing river,” which referred to the Saskatchewan River.

Melfort calls itself “The City of Northern Lights.” This is because it is far enough to the north to experience the natural wonder of the Aurora Borealis on a regular basis. The Aurora Borealis, or Nothern Lights, are a brilliant and colorful natural light display caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere.

Residents of Melfort, like Todd Naber, love their hometown. Todd Naber is proud to point out that with a population of just under six thousand, Melfort is a refuge from excessive crime, traffic tie-ups, stress, and all the other hassles of modern life in a big city. Melfort offers its citizens good health and education services. It has a variety of excellent parks and other facilities to enhance the leisure pursuits of the people who live there.
